The Journal — Wellness & Process

F*ck perfection. 🖕🏾

On surrender, staying curious, and the morning I led a Bead Bar at Therapeutically Crafted™️.

Leading a Bead Bar session with Therapeutically Inclined — Therapeutically Crafted™️, the last Saturday of Mental Health Month.

That's been the message and mode lately. Staying stuck in my head is not good for anyone, so I'm kicking the need for everything to be perfect to the curb and leaning into the places that nurture my efforts to be better.

I spent the last Saturday of Mental Health Month with @therapeuticallyinclined for Therapeutically Crafted™️. The title of the session was Beginning Without Certainty — how fitting for my life right now. 😩 I didn't realize how hard this lesson would hit home for me as a recovering overthinker.

The word that comes to mind after this experience… surrender.
— Sam

We introduced ourselves without labels, journaled through explorative prompts (with kindness), and exchanged stories of lived experiences.

I led the group through a creative wellness moment, offering up a few philosophies and cliff-notes for real life. One message I shared — and something I carry with me — is this idea: Remain curious about who YOU are.

Clarity is kindness to me and I've always been the inquisitive type. At this big age, I'm more curious (in a kind way) about myself. That looks like checking in often and keeping it real, always:

The check-in I keep coming back to
  1. How am I feeling?
  2. Do I really want to be here?
  3. What would make me happy right now?

The time I spent in class sharing, teaching, and reflecting couldn't have been more fitting for where and how I'm growing in this season. It's way too easy to get paralyzed by thoughts of what's not happening or good enough. I've spent more time than I'd care to admit obsessing over the smallest details that really didn't matter in the long haul. And for what?

Time waits for no one — and there's still so much to express and create.

It feels like my #JustDoIt era.

Shout out to Jelisa Glanton for welcoming me into such a thoughtfully curated space.
